Tarna - Tumlaren 91
Built by Clausens of SA in 1937
The Tumlaren was designed in 1933 by Knud Reimers of Sweden and selected as a one design class racing yacht for Port Philip Bay in the 1930's. The design was years ahead of its time with a high aspect ratio, light displacement, low wetted area, reserve buoyancy and a 50% balance ratio. Over 800 boats were built in 15 countries and fleets still compete around the world. The Melbourne fleet recently lost one tum at her mooring to a recent gale and also "Tarna",our Tum to Paynesville where she is sailed as a classy daysailer by the fhboats.com.au crew.
